“As a relatively new beekeeper in the Netherlands, I've quickly discovered just how challenging the Yellow-legged Asian hornet can be. At times, I've had as many as 20 hornets hunting in front of my beehive in a single day, so finding ways to protect my honeybees is really important to me.
Over the past few weeks, I've been testing the TRAP-X Hornet system with VespaLure attractant, supplied by Apitura Innovation. During this initial trial, the trap has successfully captured several Yellow-legged Asian hornets, and it's been interesting to see the system operating in real conditions at my apiary.
With hornet activity now declining as the season comes to an end, I'm looking forward to continuing the testing next spring, building on my initial experiences and sharing further results. I'm really pleased to be collaborating with Apitura and contributing to efforts to help protect honeybee colonies from this invasive species.”
