SPECIFICATION

The Bait Pod is an innovative, bycatch friendly, self-righting bait container, designed for cleaner and more efficient insect bait delivery, for the trapping insects such as Asian hornets. With the unique spill-resistant cells, it prevents leaks and spillages to keep the attractant potent, while safeguarding against beneficial insect contamination. 

The Bait Pod has been extensively tested in Jersey, where it demonstrated exceptional effectiveness with Asian hornets. During trials, the Bait Pod emits attractant vapours for two to three weeks*, consistently attracting Asian hornets throughout the testing period.

The Bait Pod was designed to offer a straightforward yet highly effective baiting solution. With its low-tech, user-friendly design, WITHOUT ANY complicated setup!

Despite its simplicity, it delivers impressive results, providing a reliable low-maintenance tool for monitoring or capturing Asian hornet populations. 

BAIT POD COMPONENTS

(1) Bait Pod lid.

(2) Bait Vapour release - High volume bait vapour release through mesh. The fine stainless steel mesh lid effectively prevents even the smallest creatures from coming into contact with the sticky bait, ensuring they remain safe from contamination.

(3) Spill Resistant Cells - Bait cells designed to resist bait spillage, ensuring the bait remains securely contained within the Bait Pod. This not only minimises waste but also maintains the effectiveness and longevity of the bait, even in challenging conditions, while reducing the risk of contamination to beneficial insects. 

(4) Self-righting bait container base - The weighted base prevents bait spillage by returning the container to its level position after being tilted.

SPILL RESISTANCE

The Bait Pod has been created to maximise baiting efficiency through its spill-RESISTANT design, whilst minimising risk to beneficial insects.

The innovative spherical weighted base paired with the unique bait cells, allows the Bait Pod to remain upright, even in challenging conditions, providing stability and preventing accidental spillage of the bait liquid.

The Bait Pod’s cells are engineered to securely hold liquid attractant, even when tilted to 85° and above.

EASY INSTALLATION 

The Bait Pod is designed to fit perfectly within TRAP-X, ensuring optimal performance and ease of use. Its versatile design also makes it compatible with a wide range of trapping equipment, offering flexibility to suit various trapping needs.

Bait Pod is thoughtfully designed with a fine stainless steel mesh lid, crafted to provide exceptional protection for non-target species. Its precise and closely-woven structure effectively prevents even the smallest beneficial creatures, such as bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, from inadvertently coming into contact with sticky bait.

Self-Righting Design: The Bait Pod features an innovative self-righting mechanism that ensures stability and maintains the correct orientation at all times. This unique design prevents accidental spills of the bait, ensuring continuous effectiveness without the need for frequent refilling or cleaning. The self-righting feature makes the trap highly reliable and convenient for long-term use in varied outdoor conditions.

Trapping
The Bait Pod is highly versatile and can be deployed not only in the TRAP-X system, but also in any compatible trap. Its flexible design allows it to be easily integrated into various trapping setups, making it an effective solution for attracting and capturing Asian hornets in different environments. This adaptability ensures the Bait Pod provides reliable results across a wide range of pest control methods.

Monitoring Station
The Bait Pod is not only effective for dispensing attractants in traps but also functions as a monitoring station for observing Asian hornet activity. Designed to be durable, it can be left in place for extended periods ensuring continuous attractant performance. This additional purpose makes the Bait Pod an essential tool for monitoring Asian hornets and data collection. 


Feeding Station
The Bait Pod is a versatile tool that plays a crucial role in Asian hornet research, functioning as an effective feeding station and enabling the capture and marking of hornets to assist in tracking their movements and locating their nests. The bait cells provide a foothold for hornets to feed, ensuring they can access the attractant without becoming contaminated. The Bait Pod supports researchers and pest control professionals in monitoring and managing Asian hornet populations, contributing to more effective strategies for mitigating their impact. 

SPECIFICATION

ASA Plastic: ASA is a tough, long-lasting plastic that resists impact, even in cold temperatures.

Weather Resistance: ASA plastic is highly resistant to UV light, so it won’t fade or degrade when exposed to the sun for prolonged periods.

Temperature Resistance: ASA will perform well in a wide range of temperatures, from -40°C to +100°C.

Chemical Resistance: ASA resists oils, greases, and many common chemicals in baits.

Steel Mesh: Stainless steel, corrosion-resistant, ideal for harsh conditions.

Temperature Resistance: The mesh will perform well in a wide range of temperatures, from -200°C to +200°C.
